This makes perfect sense and isn't so stupid. From their perspective, the United States, under the leadership of then-President Clinton, bombed Serbia, basically ending the on-going slaughter of their people. In their eyes, Clinton was a hero. Otherwise the Kosovar Albanian people likely would have been systematically eradicated from the planet by Slobodan Milosovic. Sorry, but this is one of the good things Clinton did during his presidency and should be recognized!

D~ I totally appreciate what you have to say about this--just to think that there is someone that's alive that is getting a statue put up of themselves just seemed 'out of this world' in my mind.....I wasn't putting down his accomplishments with this, just thought the statue as odd. ~B

Here's what a friend of mine said after seeing this article: "It's funny that Evangelicals will name stuff after people (e.g. dorms, churches, libraries, chapels, academic chairs), but then mock naming the main street of a capital after Clinton and putting a statue, when he led efforts that saved an entire people group from ethnic cleansing." There are plenty of people that are alive getting statues of themselves. Reagan had several before he died...

You're both missing the point! Just look at the size of that right hand! W.O.W. -kmf

So, am I understanding correctly that you let your friend know that I had posted this on my blog and then he "critiqued" what I had to say?

I just thought that the statue was a fluke--there wasn't _any_ deep thought that was put into this.

And it has nothing to do with me being an Evangelical.

No, I forwarded him the article from the BBC and he said that without seeing your blog post. But the statue in Kosovo isn't a fluke. In the US it might be, but over there he is treated with reverence, and for good reason.

And his hand is huge....
