The Great Depression

Today my mom came to visit and we talked about the tax bonus that the President and the government are planning on doing soon.

The way I understand it is that singles will get $600 each and that a couple would get $1200, plus $300 per child.

My Mother then talked about how my Dad told her that he was going to "Bury his money in the basement because the economy is going to crash." It's their thought that since the government is doing this, that it equals disaster.

The economy is going to crash?
What a foreign concept to us young Americans...
How could we ever give up our "American Lifestyle" of fast cars and huge houses?

So, it got me thinking....
How would the majority of America handle this?
I think that we would do so much more worse with it than those of the Great Depression.

How will people like me handle it when we have to have potatoes again for supper for the 30th night a in a row? How would kids handle not having candy, chips, McD's, or Wii's?

I think back to the Holocaust and Hitler and how that came about. It seems that it came about pretty gradually, but yet in context, fast.

Did those Jews know what was coming? Did they know that soon mass quantities of their relatives would be thrown into dungeons to be killed?

How quickly it all happened, and it took such a long time for people to help.

How will we live without our "Mtv?
